Charreria in Nevada
Simon Winnall
Simon Winnall headed to the Nevada / California border to document a Charreria event, Mexico’s national sport.
Originated from the 16th century, Charreria is more than a rodeo. It is anchored in tradition with sometimes 3 generations of charros (not cowboys!) in the ring. There’s a beauty to it that’s comparable to a ballet that you don’t see in the American rodeo.
It was hot and dusty, stylish and full of passion. It was a real feast for the senses.
