CycloCross Day

Greg White

Greg White’s latest personal project “CycloCross” depicts the fast, muddy and often chaotic form of bike racing that mixes road cycling with off-road terrain and obstacles.

Riders race short laps over grass, tarmac and mud, sometimes jumping off to carry their bikes before hopping back on and sprinting away again. It’s a sport that rewards endurance, balance, quick thinking and a willingness to adapt, because every lap can feel completely different depending on the weather, the ground and the people around you.

Traditionally male-dominated, cyclocross is now seeing more women take part, drawn in by its variety, its sense of fun and the welcoming community around it. Many are attracted to the dynamic nature of the sport, the problem-solving, the changing terrain and the chance to build confidence and bike-handling skills without the pressure often felt in more traditional cycling spaces. For many, it offers not just competition, but freedom, challenge, and a supportive environment where participation matters as much as performance.

Greg visually translates the grit, freedom and sense of community this sport creates.
