The Kingfisher is a family-run fish and chip shop in East London, opened by Emine’s parents in 1971. Emine grew up above the shop, working alongside her family, and later returned to run it herself. Today, she continues the business largely on her own.

Freya Najade’s personal project explores the history of the shop and its place within the local community, while reflecting on tradition, values, life choices and the changing character of the neighbourhood.
