A pinhole camera assignment as she studied for her B.A. in Fine Art sparked Victoria Ling’s career in still life photography which launched over 12 years ago.
Whether shooting a personal project or a commercial commission, she infuses her work with “soulfulness”, using rich colour juxtapositions, quirky set design and the suggestion of movement to add wit and personality to the objects she photographs. Her approach also lends itself to creating clever stop motion animation, a process she likens to magic. “Like a conjuring trick, we find magic in its simplicity,” she says. “There is something childlike and fun and playful about it.”
